News>A New Benchmark for Explosion-proof Mining Equipment: Five-Phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Electric Drum Pulley Launched, Offering Energy Saving, Cost Reduction, and Efficiency ImprovementMarch 25, 2026
The five-phase permanent magnet synchronous electric drum motor utilizes advanced multiphase permanent magnet motor technology, exhibiting excellent fault tolerance and high reliability. Thanks to the redundancy characteristics of the multiphase motor, when one or two phases of the motor fail, a clever control strategy can be used to achieve reduced power operation in the missing phase state without restarting or stopping the machine.

Higher Fault Tolerance
Multiphase motors offer higher redundancy. In the event of a phase loss fault, the control strategy can be modified to achieve uninterrupted system operation, avoiding unnecessary shutdowns and resulting in higher reliability.
Higher Stability
They better resist the effects of load variations and voltage fluctuations.
Higher Efficiency
Higher winding coefficient, lower fundamental current, and lower copper losses.
Smaller Torque Ripple
Increasing the number of motor phases reduces the amplitude of torque ripple, effectively lowering motor vibration and noise.
Higher Torque Density
Without increasing torque ripple, the output torque of the drive system can be increased through high-order harmonic current injection.
